This program includes grants, low-interest loans and credit enhancement from multiple funding sources. The housing will be located on privately owned agricultural land, land leased from private owners or from the National Park Service; and parcels of land that can be dedicated to agricultural housing.
The overall financing package will be tailored to each rancher’s situation using a combination of low-interest loans, grants, and credit enhancement. The goal is to keep the overall cost as low as possible and balance the needs of the workers and the ranchers. Property owners or leaseholders will contribute toward the overall cost of the housing, which may take various forms including site preparation, sweat equity, or equity investments. The Trust will make low-interest rate loans to help with site preparation.
A financing model will also be developed to help agricultural workers attain their dreams for homeownership.
